The Kitchen Equipment Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and installation of all food service equipment across the district's campuses. This position ensures that kitchen equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with health and safety regulations, supporting the efficient operation of the Child Nutrition Department. The Supervisor ensures that all kitchen equipment repairs are completed in a timely manner with minimal disruption to food preparation and service.
This includes coordinating work orders, managing repairs and purchases, and ensuring facilities meet safety and health standards. The Supervisor organizes and schedules preventative maintenance during non-operational hours to avoid interference with daily kitchen activities. Additionally, the Kitchen Equipment Supervisor manages the kitchen equipment repair budget and supervises all kitchen repair personnel, ensuring efficient use of resources and high-quality service delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Kitchen Equipment Supervision- Coordinate all repairs and parts purchases to ensure cafeteria equipment remains fully operational and in compliance with federal, state and local regulations
- Prioritize (based on urgency and impact) and manage work order requests, especially those resulting from health inspections, to ensure timely resolution
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, service history, repairs, warranty, and preventative maintenance information
- Develop and manage a Preventative Maintenance Schedule Log for each piece of kitchen equipment at every campus
- Ensure preventative maintenance activities (e.g. filters, belts, thermostats, etc.) are completed to minimize equipment downtime
- Oversee installation of system components (e.g., refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, gas equipment, appliances) to maintain a safe and functional environment
- Ensure all tools and equipment used for repairs are maintained in safe working condition
- Request equipment, parts and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair
- Remain on-call for emergency situations during and after hours to address immediate concerns
- Coordinate or transport tools, equipment, supplies, and food as needed
- Monitor the district’s remote refrigeration temperature system to ensure all units remain within safe temperature zones
- Monitor the Integrated Pest Management practices for the kitchens to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations
- Collaborate with the Child Nutrition Budget Analyst to develop and manage the annual kitchen equipment repairs and replacements budget
- Supervise and evaluate kitchen repair personnel to ensure safe and consistent equipment operation
- Maintain maintenance schedules for all Child Nutrition Department vehicles to ensure safe staff transportation
- Prepare documentation (e.g., repair status reports, activity logs, punch lists) to communicate with staff and repair teams
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with state and local safety, sanitation, and operational codes
- Train kitchen personnel in equipment operation, care, and safety procedures in collaboration with the Director of Operations
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay informed and support departmental goals
- Represent the Child Nutrition Department in all district new kitchen construction or renovation projects by advising on equipment needs and layout
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or installations
- Maintain relevant certifications and a current, in-depth knowledge of kitchen system operations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations
