Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified IV Admixture Technician to join our team! This position will support the Sugar Land, Texas location. This is a full-time Monday – Friday 8 a – 5 p.m. position with no weekends, or major holidays.
This position will be either a level I, II or Senior based on candidate experience.

Whatdoes the Pharmacy/Admixture Technician do?
The Pharmacy Admixture Tech, under the direct supervision of a physician or registered pharmacist working within a clinic admixture room or licensed pharmacy, performs technical, non‑judgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping, and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist. The role supports and adheres to the U.S. Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Specific state laws may regulate that only licensed individuals perform compounding or mixing responsibilities; hence, certain incumbents may be prohibited from these tasks.
- Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Check all orders for completeness of information.
- Verify patient information and proper physician authorization.
- Check all orders for insurance approval before admixing.
- Under a professional's supervision, admix drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines, and prepare all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.
- Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents. Maintain indigent patient drug program as needed.
- Count controlled drugs weekly and maintain records. Maintain current drug information and MSDS sheets. Properly dispose all materials used when mixing chemo or non‑chemo IVs.
- Clean hood daily as stated in policy and procedures. Log and date all drugs that are being used.
- Check drugs monthly for outdates. Keep accurate temperature logs. Keep accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
- Maintain proper control documentation of medications, including lot numbers and all other quality assurance activities.
- Complete inventory control of medications. Order supplies and medications. Receive and shelf medications. Ensure that standard drug supplies are in adequate supply in all departments.
- Prepare labels. File and prepare billing.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Entry level to three (3) years experience in a pharmacy.
- IV Certification strongly preferred.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
