• High school graduate or equivalent (preferred)
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions
• Willingness to perform simple, repetitive tasks
• Can lift 20‑25 lbs frequently and 50‑60 lbs occasionally
• Can stand and walk short distances for 7‑8 hours per day
• Knowledge of supplies and equipment used by the department and their care
• Alert and work safely to avoid cuts and burns
• Ability to mop
• Can work with standard cleaning chemicals
• Knowledge of safety regulations
• Some knowledge of modified diets
• Some knowledge of cooking
• Cooperative and works well with fellow employees
• Ability to deal tactfully with residents, staff, family, visitors, government personnel, and the public
• Adheres to the dress code of the Dietary Department
• Can meet local health regulations and pass pre/post‑employment physical exams, including drug screening, criminal background, reference inquiry
• Abides by confidentiality of protected health information and reports violations to Administrator
• Attends in‑service/education programs as required to learn new procedures and meet regulatory compliance
