Radiologic Technologist / CT Tech
At Houston Methodist, the Radiologic Tech II position is responsible for a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic radiology procedures to include X-ray and Fluoroscopy (including support for OR cases) exams of moderate to high complexity utilizing digital radiography and fluoroscopy techniques. This position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of various radiology procedures.
The Radiologic Tech II serves as a mentor to Radiologic Technologist I and students, utilizing skills to help train and educate others. This role works independently, exercises sound judgment, and applies above-average clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures and patient care situations. The Radiologic Tech II provides direct assistance to physicians and delivers exceptional patient care while adhering to radiation standards and guidelines to ensure patient safety and customer service.
Essential Functions
- Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to a dynamic, team‑focused unit that helps one another achieve optimal department results. Collaborates with all members of the patient care team by communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information comprehensively.
- Guides and mentors Radiologic Technologist I and students to build confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities. Uses peer-to-peer accountability toward department goals for retention and employee engagement.
- Facilitates open, professional communication (verbal, nonverbal, written) to achieve mutual understanding and problem resolution, providing high-quality service during every customer and patient encounter.
- Performs diagnostic radiology procedures including a variety of X‑Ray exams, OR and Fluoroscopy procedures.
- Assesses and responds to patient needs to optimize care, image quality and patient experience, including positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic procedures, including assistance with sterile technique.
- Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members at an appropriate level using clear communication.
- Follows safety standards and uses ALARA to protect patients, staff and the public; adheres to radiation safety, sterile techniques, and infection control procedures; complies with safety policies.
- Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement, contributes to department and hospital quality and safety targets; reports near misses and errors promptly to improve processes and identify trends. Applies critical thinking to observe and address patient reactions or potential outcomes.
- Ensures imaging equipment has undergone QC and is safe to use; reports malfunctions and participates in preventative maintenance; calls for service as needed.
- Assists with implementation and education of department safety initiatives and standards of practice.
- Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures; enters charges at the time of service.
- Uses resources efficiently; self-motivated to manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks.
- Actively participates in special projects, department initiatives or shared governance; seeks opportunities to expand learning with ongoing development and updates the individual development plan (IDP).
- Fosters a positive teaching environment by engaging Radiologic Technologist I and co-workers in valuable learning opportunities aligned with business objectives.

Education- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
- Three years' experience as a Radiologic Technologist
