Position Summary

The AoPS Academy Campus Director at our Sugar Land campus is the site manager responsible for leading daily operations, people management, and teaching select weekly math/language arts classes. The Campus Director has proven leadership in a dynamic fast-paced setting and a strong background in education. This role is a full-time, year-round position which includes the school year and summer.

The Campus Director will lead day-to-day campus operations, manage staff, and engage with families. You proactively problem-solve, are confident and composed under pressure, and foster a sales-driven mindset to achieve student enrollment targets while supporting a culture of academic excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day campus operations
  • Manage full-time and part-time campus staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling
  • Drive student enrollments and retention to meet business objectives
  • Strategically manage budgets, staffing needs, student enrollments, and class schedules
  • Create a welcoming campus environment for students, parents, and staff
  • Regularly meet with current and prospective families in-person and virtually
  • Teach the AoPS curriculum in dynamic, participation-oriented classes that emphasize understanding and skill development
  • Build community partnerships and attend outreach events to raise AoPS awareness and plan engaging campus events
  • Complete other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

Opening a New Campus:
The First 6 Months

  • AoPS Academy is a multi-site organization with 20+ physical campus locations nationwide
  • HQ support is provided remotely;
    Campus Directors work closely with HQ teams during launch and ongoing operations
  • During the launch period, focus on building the campus, community outreach, recruitment, hiring and training of staff, marketing, and enrollment building
  • Coordinate vendors and resources to ensure the space meets AoPS standards
  • Wearing multiple hats and adapting quickly as needs arise during the launch phase

Opening Timeline

We are targeting a January start date for this position, with the campus expected to welcome students in summer 2026. The offer and start date are contingent upon confirmed campus opening timelines.

The Ideal Candidate Has

All of the following are required qualifications:

  • Teaching experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Math and/or Language Arts subject matter expertise
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience with demonstrated skill in hiring, training, managing, coaching, and evaluating diverse teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • Primary/secondary teaching experience
  • Experience supervising other managers
  • Experience managing in an educational environment
  • Marketing, recruitment, or community engagement experience
  • Ability to teach advanced students in grades K-12

Work Schedule

AoPS Academy is an after-school program; most classes and operational responsibilities occur during evenings and weekends. Directors typically work a nontraditional schedule during the school year; summer hours tend to be more standard.
