Summary of Primary FunctionDeliver patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identify and determine the priority of patient problems and needs, and evaluate the process and outcome of nursing care. Coordinate, provide and direct patient teaching activities and coordinate care provided by health team members.
Essential Job Functions- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze assessment data, create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Administer medications safely consistent with state practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies.
- Serve as point of contact for patient care coordination across hospital departments.
- Act as a patient safety advocate and participate in ongoing quality improvement.
- Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery.
- Knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and future innovations.
- Nursing judgment and skill based on biological, physical, behavioral and social sciences.
- Application and coordination of the nursing process in patient care delivery.
- Evaluation of professional nursing practice to optimize goals and outcomes.
- Health teaching and health promotion.
- Patient advocacy and partnership.
- Interprofessional collaboration and leadership.
- Understanding and utilization of office and clinical technologies.
- Compassionate, relationship‑based approach.
- Integration of quality improvement, evidence‑based practices and research.
- Accountability for professional actions.
- Effective stewardship of resources.
- Conflict management and resilience.
- Delegation authority while remaining accountable for outcomes.
- Cardiology experience preferred.
- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred).
- Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required).
- Associate of Nursing (required).
- Diploma in Nursing (required).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
