Sentara Health is hiring Registered Nurses for the Surgical Services departments in Suffolk, VA. Positions are available at Obici and Belle Harbour locations for Main OR, Ambulatory Surgery, and Endoscopy. Ideal candidates will have completed a Peri Op 101 course or have experience in scrub or circulator roles in an Operating Room. Call requirements vary; flexible scheduling is offered. Sign‑On Bonus of up to $15,000 for qualified candidates.

Sentara Obici Hospital is a recognized Primary Stroke Center and Magnet hospital, with an average of 5,000 cases per year. The 40‑person team supports seven operating rooms and performs a diverse range of procedures including general, ortho, podiatry, vascular, GYN, spine, and plastics, utilizing advanced systems like DaVinci robotic technology. The team, comprising RNs, surgical assistants, surgical technologists and OR techs, works across Obici and Bell Harbor hospitals, with opportunities to assist in Obstetrics as needed.

At Belle Harbour, the Ambulatory Surgery Center provides high‑quality care within a collaborative environment that includes registered nurses, surgical techs, sterile services, and support staff, all overseen by a highly trained and experienced management team. The center features a dedicated admit recovery area and a 6‑bed post‑anesthesia care unit (PACU). The facility is expanding services and currently has one dedicated OR with expectations of a second OR in the coming months.
It offers a range of surgical services, including orthopedic procedures, gynecology, plastics, ENT, urology, general, and podiatry, and sees between 3 and 8 procedures per day.
Our newly remodeled Endoscopy Department features three state‑of‑the‑art procedure rooms and is staffed by a dedicated team of six RNs and endoscopy technicians. They work closely with a primary GI outpatient provider, with additional staff available for call coverage and surgical needs. The team performs an average of 12 to 15 procedures daily. Extensive training, lasting 4 to 6 weeks, ensures the endoscopy technician will be proficient in equipment handling, assisting during procedures, and supporting hands‑on surgeries.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing competent nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care—teaching and health promotion, and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or MSN (preferred)
- Registered Nursing License (required)
- ACLS required within 1 year of hire
- PALS required within 1 year of hire
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- Scrub and circulator experience in an OR (required)
- Completion of a Peri Op 101 program (required)
