Position Summary
Highly skilled mechanical and electrical specialist responsible for maintenance and repair of light to medium duty packaging and processing equipment, including conveyors, blowers, sifters, burners, grinders, conventional and high-speed packaging machines, labeling and printing equipment, vacuum and hydraulic pumps, forklifts, and air compressors. The role includes building new equipment and maintaining existing plants, requiring independent work with minimal supervision and the application of mechanical/electrical knowledge and judgment in repair, overhaul, and remanufacturing of plant equipment.
Job Duties- Inspect, repair, and perform overhauls on mechanical drives/motors, pneumatic and hydraulic components, motor control center devices, transport conveyor systems, and rotating, cutting, and grinding equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and conduct performance testing of production machinery.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair motor control centers, electromechanical drives, and sub‑electrical panels using volt and amp meters.
- Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision instruments to determine working clearances on mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
- Identify proper materials required for repairs, such as measuring belts, chains, and fasteners, and fill out order forms as required.
- Perform machine shop duties such as general metal fabrication, welding, and machining.
- Establish work orders and requisition/order parts.
- Requisition shop supplies and equipment such as replacement parts, hardware, lubricants, tools, and testing instruments.
- Provide technical input to write and maintain standard operating procedures and job safety analyses.
- Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
- Perform related work as assigned or required.
- Basic mechanical and electrical skills within a manufacturing or industrial environment required.
- Must have acquired vocational/technical certifications, hands‑on training, apprenticeship completion, or military training with work‑related experience.
- Associate Degree or 1–2 years of experience desired.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required; high school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to identify basic mechanical and electrical parts.
- Proven ability to perform basic computer applications such as Word and Outlook.
- Proof of previous forklift driving experience is a plus.
- Must comply with all Federal, State, Corporate, Warehouse, and Food Safety standards, policies, and guidelines (e.g., HACCP, GMP, SQF, FDA).
- Must be willing and able to frequently lift 25 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to work in a non‑climate‑controlled environment.
