Overview

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office (SCDA) is one of the largest prosecutors'offices in the country and has recently launched a number of cutting-edge initiatives and reforms that have put it on the national stage for innovation. We are a team: one that is committed to making our community a safe place to live, work and raise a family. SCDAis looking for the most qualified candidates to join our ranks, with the objective of recruiting those with diverse backgrounds, a strong work ethic, integrity and a commitment to public service and justice.

The recent overhaul of New York State discovery laws has presented unique challenges to prosecutors' offices statewide. The SCDAis tasked with gathering a large amount of evidence in a short amount of time and preparing this evidence for disclosure. In the context of criminal discovery, the office must continually weigh safety and privacy considerations against the transparency that is required by law.

These challenges grow larger on a daily basis as Suffolk County deploys an expanding number of body worn cameras. This new technology interfaces with computer software to absorb the voluminous amount of evidence, including video evidence from body-worn cameras we now gather daily. To assist in the accumulation, evaluation, and triage of case evidence and information, we are seeking candidates for the position of Discovery Expediter.

Discovery Expediters must possess the ability to network and work well with others, as the role requires daily interactions with members of other law enforcement agencies and with members of all employment levels within the SCDAO.
