Job Summary
Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) under the Joint Staff J7 (JS J-7) contract. This senior‑level position plays a critical role in ensuring the availability, integration, and security of mission‑critical DoD systems used in joint training exercises.
Responsibilities- Lead technical planning, system integration, verification/validation, and risk/cost analyses across the full system lifecycle.
- Translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications through functional analysis, trade studies, and interface definition.
- Apply advanced technical principles to solve complex, innovative problems.
- Ensure system availability by maintaining environments, applying patches, and monitoring performance.
- Perform fault isolation and troubleshooting during steady‑state and exercise operations.
- Configure systems to meet exercise‑specific requirements.
- Provide on‑site and remote technical support during integration, execution, and post‑exercise phases.
- Implement DoD cybersecurity best practices.
- Collaborate with planners and participate in planning conferences, readiness reviews, and technical out‑briefs.
- 15 years relevant experience with a Bachelor in a related field; 13 years relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field; 10 years relevant experience with a Ph.D. or Juris Doctorate in a related field; or a high‑school diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
- Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security).
- Strong technical troubleshooting and documentation skills.
- Must have and be able to maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience managing Windows and Linux systems.
- Background supporting classified enclaves, exercises, or mission‑critical DoD systems.
- Familiarity with DoD software/infrastructure (JLVC, JTT, or other Joint Staff‑developed capabilities).
- Hands‑on expertise with virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V), networking & DNS configurations, system imaging & backup tools, patch management & software deployment, and prior experience supporting live or simulated exercise environments.
Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
