Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Appointment Coordinator - Radiology Clerk/Admin - Part Time Days. In this role, the successful candidate under general supervision interviews patients to obtain all necessary identification information and prepares the necessary forms to receive services and ensures accurate billing and insurance information is collected. Demonstrates the ability to work with groups of all ages to provide clerical support services taking into consideration the unique physical and psycho‑social needs of patients relative to age specific requirements.
Interacts and communicates effectively with customers. Performs other various clerical duties as assigned by your supervisor.
- Properly greets patient.
- Properly identifies patient.
- Prepares patient in an appropriate position.
- Follows IC procedures (gloves, hand washing).
- Properly labels and documents tubes and label sets.
- Follows policies and procedures for sharp disposal.
- Maintains a clean, neat and professional working appearance.
- Leaves patient in a safe manner, bed rails up.
- Inputs results into Novius correctly.
- Explains procedure and reassures patient.
- Protects privacy of patient (closing curtains, etc.).
- Protects confidentiality of patient.
- Refers patient questions to appropriate person (e.g., Nursing, Supervisors).
- Identifies additional needs of patient and acts accordingly.
- Reports to supervisor or nursing any unusual condition of patient and documents on label set and in computer.
- Identifies self, wears hospital and clarifies role to patient in a respectful fashion.
- Understands general computer operation for this area.
- Prepares documents on computer (deletion, addition, changes).
- Properly documents all pertinent patient information.
- Delivers STAT requests to laboratory separately.
- Relays to supervisor any conflict in specimen identification or labeling.
- Handles equipment in accordance with laboratory policy.
- Completes work or explains to coverage appropriate stage of processing and outstanding issues.
- Knows computer downtime procedure.
- Handles light stock.
- Ensures adequate supplies are in the area.
- Works collaboratively with staff to maintain cleanliness of work environment and equipment (e.g., carts, EKG machine).
- Assists with infection prevention by adhering to Standard Precautions (effective handwashing).
- Recognizes safety hazards and acts promptly and appropriately.
- Remains focused and attentive to detail for up to 90% of work time when doing computer entry, 95% when filing radiology records; stands and walks up to 90% of work time when filing or retrieving records or duplicating film.
- Lifts or carries up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Pulls or pushes up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Bends, squats, kneels, and reaches above shoulders occasionally.
- Communicates with insurance companies to obtain proper pre‑authorization and/or authorization when necessary.
- Provides Patient Bill of Rights, Advance Directive, and other patient education material.
- Retrieves and returns voicemail messages in a timely manner.
