Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring an Administrative Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Surgical Services Department
- Outpatient Surgery. This is a full time, day shift position in Suffolk, VA.
Five 8-hour shifts Monday to Friday. Start times vary between 5am and 830am to ensure business unit coverage. 6-week scheduling.
No Nights, No Weekends, No Holidays, No Call!
Training on the unit is between 6 to 8 weeks.
About the departmentSentara Obici Hospital is a recognized Primary Stroke Center and Magnet hospital, with an average of 5,000 cases per year or about 25 cases per day in the outpatient surgery center. The 40-person team supports seven operating rooms, and performs a diverse range of procedures including general, ortho, podiatry, vascular, GYN, spine, and plastics, utilizing advanced systems like DaVinci robotic technology.

The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse.
This is a role that will also assist in administrative duties including Chart Prep for Pre
- Anesthesia, Patient registration, and some clerical duties on the outpatient surgery unit.

Education- HS – High School Grad or Equivalent
- One of the following programs:
Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
- AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- One year of health care experience is preferred.
- Previous clerical experience preferred
- Patient registration experience preferred
