Medical Assistant - Urgent Care Float Pool

Apply for the Medical Assistant – Urgent Care Float Pool position at Sentara Health.

Location & Travel

Virginia Beach, VA (and Norfolk, VA). May require travel to Elizabeth City.

Shift & Hours

Standard Swing Shift 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (includes every other weekend and 3 of 6 holidays). 80 hours bi‑weekly distributed across 12‑, 8‑, and 6‑hour shifts.

Differential Pay

Additional pay is provided for the travel and flexibility required for this role.

Responsibilities

Perform patient care and administrative/clerical tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (Preferred)
Certification & Licensure
  • Active CMA, CCMA, RMA, or NREMT‑Basic (Required)
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
Experience
  • 1 year of clinical or administrative experience
  • Phlebotomy experience (Preferred)
