Overview

Physical Therapist - In Motion Harbour View at Bon Secours. This role involves conducting initial and ongoing assessments and providing skilled therapeutic interventions across settings (outpatients, inpatients, pediatrics, and off-site locations) as part of the continuum of professional care.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients, gather pertinent information, and develop an appropriate treatment plan with specific goals; perform ongoing assessment and revise plans as needed.
  • Provide direct therapy daily according to the patient7s plan of care and current standards of practice; instruct patients and families in therapeutic procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of treatment and patient progress; document care, coordination of services, orders, goals in the electronic medical record; provide co-signature for supervised physical therapy assistants when applicable.
  • Maintain productivity levels while ensuring quality of care; deliver efficient and effective care meeting department standards.
  • Adhere to departmental policies on safety, infection control, time off requests, and timecard recording; complete required education and compliance activities.
  • Supervise physical therapy assistants and contribute to their clinical growth; may precept students from participating colleges/universities.
  • Promote rehabilitation services and wellness activities with patients, families, and caregivers when applicable.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, agencies, families, and teams to meet patient care needs.
Qualifications
  • Licensing/Certification:
    Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of current practice or eligible for trainee/temporary license in the state of practice (required).
  • BLS:
    Basic Life Support (preferred on hire, required within 30 days for BSMH, or at hire for RSFH).
  • Work Experience:

    2 years of experience in an equivalent setting (preferred).
  • Training/Language:
    None specified beyond essential licensure;
    English language proficiency as required for patient care.
  • Patient Population:
    Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development across age groups and provides care appropriate to assigned units (neonates to geriatrics as applicable).
  • Working Conditions:

    Ability to handle periods of high stress, potential travel up to 10%, exposure to typical clinical hazards and infection risks; independent travel to off-site locations as needed.
Physical and Environmental Requirements

Physical Demands, Work Position, Hazards, and Other requirements are consistent with clinical care roles and may include lifting, reaching, balance, dexterity, and ability to work in varied environments. Universal precautions and infection control practices are required.

  • Hard/Tech/Clinical:
    Age-appropriate care, computer skills (data entry, records management), and analytical ability to evaluate patient condition and progress.
  • Soft/Interpersonal:
    Strong communication, collaboration with colleagues, families, and patients; critical thinking, organization, time management, and ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.
