Hours 07.45am - 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, 07.45am
-12.45pm Friday, 1 Friday off every 4 weeks!
Full time available however flexibility can be agreed for slightly less hours if preferred
AQ Wiring Systems Rockford is looking for a talented Electro‑Mechanical Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and improving complex electro‑mechanical systems and products. Experience with in the defence sector is highly desirable due to the nature of some projects, but it is not essential—we welcome engineers from a wide range of industries with strong technical ability and a proactive attitude.

& Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test electro‑mechanical assemblies, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with technical requirements.
- Produce detailed engineering drawings, documentation, and specifications using CAD tools.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform tolerance analysis, component selection, and system integration of electrical and mechanical subsystems.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including sales, manufacturing, quality, and project management.
- Support prototyping, build phases, and on‑site testing activities.
- Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
- Work with suppliers, assess component suitability, and support procurement as required.
- Prepare technical reports, test plans, and documentation for internal stakeholders and customers.
- Degree in Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with electrical systems, wiring, sensors, motors, actuators, PCBs, or embedded hardware.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Fusion, Inventor, or similar).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Hands‑on experience with prototyping, assembly, and testing.
- Strong problem‑solving capabilities and analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working on defence, aerospace, automotive, sensor systems, or other regulated engineering environments.
- Understanding of standards such as DEF STAN, MIL‑STD, or similar defence‑related requirements.
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices and configuration control.
- Experience with FMEA, DFMEA, or reliability engineering.
- Security clearance (or the ability to obtain it).
