2030 COORDINATOR I OF STUDENT SERVICES
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORKThe Coordinator of Student Services performs difficult professional and administrative work planning, directing and supervising student services programs and services; does related work as required. Responsible for the direction and operation of all programs related to student enrollment, truancy, non-resident or out-of-zone applications and tuition, and foreign exchange students. Serve as Truancy Officer and Juvenile Court Services Liaison. Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief of Administrative Services.
Supervision is exercised over subordinate personnel.
This work is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amount of force frequently or consistently to move objects; work requires and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; visual acuity is required for depth perception, preparing and analyzing written and computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities;
the worker may be subjected to adverse environmental conditions involving emergency (safety or behavioral) incidents.

- Serve as the division’s enrollment and attendance subject matter expert, providing guidance to administrators and school staff on the interpretation of applicable policies and laws, records requirements, and programs related to enrollment, attendance, unexcused absences, court orders, and student withdrawals.
- Collect and analyze attendance data to identify students experiencing truancy; conduct home visits to assess family circumstances; coordinate referrals and collaborate with social workers and external agencies to verify needs; and implement enforcement procedures in accordance with attendance policies.
- Collaborate with administration, school staff, parents and students to develop truancy prevention/intervention strategies and to develop individualized plans to improve attendance.
- Serves as a liaison between assigned schools and such agencies as social services, court services, and the police department regarding student truancy and excessive absenteeism.
- Plans, organizes and implements student services and programs involving all discipline matters;
- Confers with parents regarding discipline inquiries and concerns;
- Conducts administrative/expulsion due process hearings;
- Conducts student discipline appeals;
- Collaborates with the administrative teams of alternative programs;
- Consults with and responds to principals regarding student services concerns on School Board policy and regulations, and legal issues, staffing, instructional issues, discipline, zoning and compliance issues and parent concerns;
- Serves as the division liaison (LEA) to identify and enroll students experiencing homelessness;
- Collaborates with other divisions regarding the transportation of students experiencing homelessness;
- Serves as the foster care division liaison and related duties as applicable by school policy, state and federal law;
- Assists in the development, monitoring, and administrating the student services budget;
- Prepares required division, state, and federal reports;
- Develops and recommends policies and procedures related to student services issues;
- Attends staff, School Board, and division meetings;
- Collaborates with schools and the Technology Department to monitor data quality;
- Supports schools when any discipline-related emergency occurs;
- Presents requested discipline-related information, including reports and informational items to the School Board;
- Collaborates with Region II school division and participates in Region II Meetings;
- Reviews legislative laws and maintain updates as related to the Student Code of Conduct;
- Update the Student Code of Conduct bi-yearly for local and state compliance that addresses student behavior, prevention and intervention programs;
- Performs discipline-related tasks as required.

Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of school administration; comprehensive knowledge of pupil personnel programs, procedures and techniques; ability to develop and present ideas effectively, orally and in written form; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with associates, School Board members, parents and the general public.
