The College and Career Academy at Pruden is a regional public secondary school serving Suffolk City Schools. The Center provides Career and Technical Education for high school students and serves as a Regional Testing Site for Credentia and Pearson Vue.
Secondary teacher to teach occupational preparation Nurse Aide classes designed to prepare students for Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification. Performs intermediate professional work providing instruction services in nursing care in specialized groups of courses, motivating students to develop skills in nursing services; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the principal of The College and Career Academy at Pruden.
EssentialFunctions
- Teaching a broad range of subjects in nursing care, motivating students to achieve maximum potential, preparing course materials, preparing and maintaining files and records as required by the Virginia Board of Nursing (VBON).
- Supervises students in all care and treatment of patients.
- Prepares and conducts course lectures; demonstrates and observes students in the clinical lab.
- Prepares course outlines, presentations, and handouts.
- Evaluates student progress.
- Coordinate and maintain the Nurse Program requirements as outlined by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
- Performs related tasks as required.

- Develop teaching materials and aids independently.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, hospital, school system staff, and the general public.
- Works in standard office and school building environments.
- Must hold a current, unrestricted Virginia Licence or multistate licensure privilege as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with appropriate endorsement by the Virginia Department of Education.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
ExperienceHave two years of experience as a registered nurse and at least one year of direct client or supervisory experience in the provision of long‑term care services.
Terms of Employment- Salary Range: $60,000 - $93,446 ($2,944 Additional for Master’s Degree)
