Job DescriptionManitoulin Transport is currently seeking a Bilingual Dispatcher (French/English) to join our Central Dispatch operations team. This position plays a critical role in supporting Central Dispatch in coordinating the movement of freight to service terminals in the most efficient and cost‑effective manner, helping ensure network fluidity, service standards, and on‑time performance. This is a fast‑paced operational role requiring flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities- Support Central Dispatch in executing and coordinating freight movement across the network to service terminals efficiently
- Consistently answer phones and support driver needs, including:
- Hook‑up information
- Departure times
- Delay updates
- Trip‑related and operational concerns
- Work closely with terminal dock staff and managers to:
- Plan trips
- Determine the most efficient and cost‑effective freight movement
- Book hotel rooms for drivers and issue purchase orders as required
- Bill shipments and:
- Manifest trailers
- Strip freight from manifests electronically as required
- Maintain and update multiple shared Google spreadsheets
- Track shipments and assist customers after hours when Customer Service is closed
- Work effectively in a fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bilingual in French and English (required)
- Strong computer skills and comfortable working in multiple systems
- Detail‑oriented with strong multitasking and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
- Able to work under pressure in a high call‑volume environment
- Comfortable spending the majority of the shift on the phone
Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations, Hours of Service legislation and familiarity with the Manitoulin network and equipment would be considered an asset, but is not required.
