Job Details
  • Job title: Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, Field
  • Reports to: General Supervisor
  • Shift: 5x2, Monday–Friday
  • Location: Sudbury area for underground service role (Underground mine in Sudbury)
  • Allowances: This role is eligible for additional premiums
  • Safety Sensitive: Yes – drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and 5-year driving record required
  • Travel: Up to 50% travel
  • Relocation: Not eligible
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and servicing on underground mining equipment including LHDs, haul trucks, jumbos, and bolters
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Replace or adjust components and parts to restore equipment performance
  • Work directly at customer sites, ensuring timely and effective service
  • Uphold and contribute to a strong safety-first culture in every task
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Valid 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification (Red Seal is an asset)
  • Proven experience with underground mining equipment required
  • Ability to travel and work overtime as needed
  • No restrictions for accessing any mine site
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage shifting priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a results-driven mindset
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
