About The Role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Program Manager, Interprovincial Organ Sharing (IPOS) to join our Organ & Tissue Donation & Transplantation (OTDT) team. The role oversees interprovincial organ sharing programs, with development, continuous improvement, and monitoring in support of business strategy and objectives. The OTDT team oversees national organ sharing programs, aims to improve system performance, increase transplantation rates, and improve patient outcomes.
This role is based in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will work a mix of on-site and off-site hours. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time, which may vary depending on circumstances.
Responsibilities- Oversee the daily management and long-term development of interprovincial organ sharing program initiatives, including development and implementation of interprovincial organ sharing policies.
- Collaborate with the OTDT team, medical advisors, regional organ donation organizations, organ transplant programs, living donation programs, HLA laboratories, professional societies, health care professionals, information system vendors, advisory committees, Health Canada, CIHI, national/international research experts, and patient/public partners to advance and improve the OTDT system in Canada.
- Lead relationship management with external partners, involving them in decision-making, analyzing partner issues, and developing strategic approaches to enhance transplant opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to optimize interprovincial organ sharing programs; identify education/training opportunities, drive continuous service improvements, and report partner feedback.
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate programs, projects, policies, guidelines, and education materials aligned with OTDT strategies; conduct needs and impact assessments, plan innovative approaches, and maintain formal policies.
- Represent the business/clinical/community with respect to the Canadian Transplant Registry requirements and collaborate with the software development team to ensure user needs are addressed in the registry.
- Manage program evaluation and operations, including scheduling, communications, results analysis, reporting, and committee reviews; monitor activities to ensure user satisfaction and consult with expert advisors as needed.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate substantial risks with implications beyond the project.
- Post-secondary education; a university degree in health care or related field is preferred. Master’s degree is an asset.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in living donation, deceased donation, transplantation, or acute care, and minimum of 6 years in health service operations and program evaluation.
- Proven track record in evidence-based practice, policy development, and digital implementations across regional jurisdictions.
- Experience facilitating groups and engaging diverse partners; strong knowledge of program management principles, regulatory frameworks, quality standards, and the continuum of care in organ donation and transplantation.
- In-depth knowledge of Canada’s organ donation and transplantation system; exceptional ability to build relationships and achieve consensus among diverse partners.
- Strong communication skills for varied audiences and ability to produce clear, logical written documents; advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- French-English bilingualism is considered an asset.
