WSP’s Energy & Process team works coast‑to‑coast, delivering integrated solutions for upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, as well as new and evolving energy markets. As an Electrical and Controls Designer
, you’ll join our dynamic Process & Energy Electrical Group and collaborate with multidisciplinary experts to bring impactful, future‑ready projects to life.
This role can be based in any WSP office across Alberta, Ontario, or the Atlantic provinces

- Review P&IDs and transform them into clear, accurate electrical drawings and specifications.
- Generate complete electrical drawing packages for approval, bid, and construction, including single‑line diagrams, schematics, lighting design, control panel details, heat trace design and more.
- Apply engineering and construction standards to evaluate RFQs, quotations, purchase orders, and electrical contract documents.
- Mark up vendor package/skid drawings to meet project specifications and ensure seamless integration across disciplines.
- Provide practical wiring details and technical guidance to support electrical contractors in the field.
- Offer responsive field support during construction, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and safely.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical, process, civil, structural and other teams to achieve shared project goals.
- Prepare requisitions, review BOMs, and contribute to high‑quality deliverables that keep complex projects moving forward.
- A technical diploma in electrical engineering technology or a related discipline from a recognized post‑secondary institution.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical design, ideally within consulting or EPC environments.
- Experience supporting heavy industrial projects – exposure to oil & gas, gas compression, processing facilities, or energy transition projects is a strong asset.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with 3D CADD tools is an advantage.
- A detail‑oriented, solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 – $102,500
MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $69,900 – $92,900
