Superintendent - Civil Construction

Responsibilities- Providing leadership and to establish and maintain effective and harmonious relationships of the on‑site staff;
- Having thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the contract documents, each subcontract, the contract drawings, specifications and addenda, and to assist the Site / General Superintendent in the development of the on‑site procedures;
- Planning and reviewing the site construction program with the Site / General Superintendent including quality control procedures, safety and environmental procedures, staging plans, equipment and manpower;
- Coordinating with, directing, and monitoring the Field Engineer/Coordinator inspection activities of the subcontractors, suppliers and own forces;
- Coordinating with and directing when necessary, the activities of the inspection agencies, and to effect remedial actions if required;
- Establishing and retaining necessary communications between subcontractors, consultants and clients;
- Attending weekly safety meetings and coordination meetings with own forces, subcontractors, agencies and clients;
- Providing daily reports of work done and labour and material employed to the Site / General Superintendent;
- Reviewing and submitting for approval, all time cards, subcontractor’s monthly request for payment, material vouchers and invoices;
- Maintaining good relations and communications with all involved in the project including public.
- Related work experience of 3-5 years in a construction supervision role, working on heavy civil construction projects;
- Experience in earthworks and concrete structures a must;
- Proven skills in management, negotiation, communication, and problem solving;
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work;
- Knowledge of office management systems and administrative procedures;
- Basic math, accounting, and finance skills;
- Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task;
