This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization.

We are currently looking for a Home Child Care Consultant and Assistant Supervisor of Child, Youth and Family Development to join our team of committed professionals. This position will be a Full-Time with 50% of the day under the Home Child Care Consultant role and 50% of the day in the Assistant Supervisor role. This position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Durham location in Sudbury .

Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Home Child Care Consultant, the Home Child Care Consultant and Assistant Supervisor of Child, Youth and Family Development is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, educational childcare through a contractual agreement between the YMCA and the self-employed providers.

RATE OF PAY: $55,785.60 / Annually

Major Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support and guidance to the providers to ensure the overall health, safety and well-being of the children
  • Support and oversee the delivery of the “How does learning Happen”
  • Assess and support the skills, abilities, interests and needs of the staff and children
  • Oversee, support and ensure the delivery of high-quality educational programming, by following the National curriculum, YMCA Playing to Learn, YMCA Health Childhood Development, CATCH and YMCA’s School-Age programs
  • Ensure effective supervision and ratios are compliant at all times
  • Ensure compliance with the employment standards act, occupational Health and safety act and other employment legislations.
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, and supervising staff, volunteers, and schedule training events for staff and volunteers to ensure compliance with mandatory certifications
  • Adhere to guidelines/regulations of the Child Care & Early Years Act (CCEYA) as well as all third-party governing agencies such as DSSAB/Municipality, Public Health and Fire Department
  • Review and provide recommendations for the providers’ invoices for payment
  • Maintain records and files
  • Conduct “orientations” for potential Recruitment of new providers Attend staff training programs and meetings
Qualifications
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent as approved by the Ministry
  • Membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) in good standing
  • Health assessment from Medical Professional and Immunizations Record (or exemption) as recommended and approved by the local Medical Officer of Health
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR (Level

    C)
    * Recognized by the WSIB
  • Certification in YMCA Playing to Learn, ‘A Place to Connect’ and/or Healthy Child Development is an asset
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a child and/or youth setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (French communication skills considered an asset)
  • Ability to protect the confidentiality of all information and communications (oral and written) pertaining to the association, its officers, staff, students, volunteers, the children in our care and their families
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
