Traveling Field Service Technician

JM Equipment Inc. (Sturgis, MI) is a family‑operated manufacturer of paper converting machinery, established in 1989. We build and rebuild hydraulic core splitters, roll stands, dual rotary sheeters, and decurlers for paper converting facilities across North America. We are seeking an experienced field service technician to install, service, and repair our equipment at customer sites across North America. This is a long‑term career, not a contract. We invest in our people.

• $25‑$32/hour based on experience
• 40‑hour weeks with overtime opportunities
• Company vehicle provided for all travel
• Lodging paid on assignments

• Install and commission dual rotary sheeters, core splitters, roll stands, and decurlers
• Perform knife changes, blade alignments, and precision adjustments
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems (up to 480 V)
• Replace and tension belts and drive systems
• Conduct equipment rebuilds; train customer operators
• Provide phone and on‑site technical support

Travel is variable based on customer needs:

• Local (1‑hour drive)
• Regional (multi‑day trips)
• Cross‑country assignments

• 3+ years industrial maintenance or field service experience
• Hydraulic system troubleshooting ability
• Experience with knife/blade changes and belt tensioning
• Electrical troubleshooting up to 480 V
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals
• Valid driver's license with clean record
• Ability to lift 75 lbs; willingness to travel

• Paper converting or corrugating experience
• VFD programming or welding (MIG/TIG)
