General Machinist - Precision Manufacturing

Location: Sturbridge, MA

Pay: $35.00/hour

We are seeking an experienced General Machinist to join a high‑precision scientific manufacturing environment in Sturbridge, MA. This role supports R&D model shop operations and production manufacturing, producing tight‑tolerance components for spectrometry, medical devices, aerospace, and advanced research applications. Ideal candidates have strong manual and CNC machining experience and thrive in a regulated, quality‑driven setting.

• Machine high‑precision components from stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, and specialty materials
• Independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot manual and CNC machining equipment
• Support prototype machining, R&D development, and full‑scale production manufacturing
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications
• Program, edit, and optimize CNC machining programs as required
• Design, build, and modify tooling, fixtures, and work holding solutions
• Perform preventative maintenance and maintain organized machine shop operations
• Monitor tooling and raw material inventory; communicate supply needs proactively
• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to improve manufacturability and process efficiency

• 5+ years of experience in precision machining or model shop environments
• Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience machining stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, and other industrial materials
• Hands‑on experience with Hardinge Manual Lathe, Bridgeport Knee Mill, and Prototrak RMX Bed Mill
• Proficiency in blueprint reading, dimensional inspection, and tight‑tolerance machining
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (medical device, aerospace, or similar preferred)
