Our client, an independent automotive workshop located in South Gloucester and specialising in the restoration and repair of classic vehicles, is looking to recruit an Engine Rebuilder to join their business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strip, assess, and fully build car engines, from pre‑war vintages to modern classics.
  • Diagnose, report in detail and rectify faults.
  • Calculate cam/ignition timing and compression ratios, etc.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Keep meticulous build notes and records.
  • Use specialist equipment to measure and inspect components.
  • Attend and support dynamometer and rolling road testing.
Qualifications & Experience

Whilst an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair would be highly desirable, our client is open to considering candidates with no qualifications, provided they have extensive experience of building automotive engines, preferably from the classic car or motor sport industry. Candidates should have strong knowledge of carburetors and magneto/coil ignition systems, sound mechanical knowledge gained through hands‑on experience, be able to project‑manage their workload to achieve deadlines, produce high‑quality work in a busy workshop environment, and have a passionate approach to the motor trade.

Applicants must hold a UK driving licence with minimal points, have their own basic tool kit (specialist tools provided), and live within a 30–45 minute radius of South Gloucester (candidates located in North Bristol, Stroud, Cirencester, Gloucester, or Cheltenham would be ideal).

Why Join Us?

For your hard work as an Engine Rebuilder, our client is offering a competitive package and a supportive, enjoyable working environment.
