PositionLead Production Technician
What is a Lead Production Technician?The Lead Production Technician acts as the point person under the Supervisor to coordinate workflow, efficiency and safety of the production cell. Responsibilities include routine activities involved in storing, stocking and handling materials, and may include painting or deburring, as well as performing a variety of mechanical or electrical assembly and test operations on the assigned product lines. This is a first shift position with hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
What We’re Looking ForThe ideal candidate will have at least three years of related experience in a manufacturing/production environment and the ability to own the work centers. Must be computer literate in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office. Must be organized, a team player and committed to quality systems.
Duties And Responsibilities- Lead the designated team, ensuring individual and group productivity.
- Provide leadership to the assigned cell with respect to quality, cost, production and compliance.
- Monitor the team's production flow, ensuring output meets deadlines and within quality and safety parameters.
- Assist with coordinating workflow between departments.
- Participate in cell activities to meet identified goals.
- Assist cell members in solving problems and improving performance.
- Identify and report personnel issues to the shift supervisor.
- Train new employees and coach existing employees.
- Ensure that company methods and policies are followed.
- Work with the Supervisor to: communicate relevant information and expectations; enable effective communications between the team and supervisor; interview and assess new-hire candidates; document training; create/review/update work instructions, job descriptions and TPTPs as needed (not less than annually); review and input wording for 30-, 90-day and annual performance reviews and corrective action notices; interface with quality control, engineering and production planners.
- Effectively assemble and test a variety of products for the qualified area.
- Inspect, test and/or evaluate all parts manufactured in the assembly area and perform quality-related analysis.
- Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of materials and inventory.
- Ensure products and systems are shipped with appropriate packing, documentation and delivery requirements.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance as required to maintain equipment in top operational order.
- Visually inspect product to ensure it has not been damaged or deteriorated during handling, storage, packaging or shipping.
- Track inventory or prepare other documentation on a computer as needed.
- Perform material handling activities such as crating, packing, shipping, receiving, picking, lifting, moving and using materials handling equipment (e.g., lift trucks, tow motors, cranes, high lifts).
- Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
- Comply with and enforce all safety procedures in each area assigned, including wearing protective clothing and proper handling of chemicals and products.
- Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers.
- Comply with and enforce policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
- Maintain and enforce quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
- Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area.
- Maintain punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
- Perform all other job duties as assigned.
- Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
- Three years related experience in manufacturing/production environment required.
- Ability to assemble assigned product lines.
- Computer literate in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office required.
- Work with limited supervision and take ownership of the work centers.
