Position SummaryThe Semi Truck Driver is responsible for operating diesel-powered tractor-trailers or box trucks to safely transport and deliver products or materials to various destinations. This role requires strict adherence to safety regulations, efficient route management, and excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Transport Goods:
Pick up, transport, and deliver goods to designated locations, including warehouses, retail locations, and distribution centers. - Vehicle Inspections:
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including tires, brakes, lights, fluids, and other critical components. Report any issues or malfunctions promptly. - Secure Cargo:
Properly load, arrange, and secure cargo to prevent damage or shifting during transit. - Maintain Logs and Documentation:
Accurately complete required logs, including hours of service (HOS), fuel usage, mileage, and delivery records, in compliance with federal and state DOT regulations. - Follow Safety and Traffic Laws:
Operate the vehicle safely in compliance with all DOT rules and local traffic laws. Adjust driving based on road, traffic, and weather conditions. - Communication:
Maintain timely communication with dispatchers and supervisors to report progress, delays, or issues with routes or deliveries. - Operate Equipment:
Use equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, clamp trucks, and hand trucks to assist in the loading and unloading process, when necessary. - Customer Service:
Interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff during pickups and deliveries. Represent the company in a courteous and respectful manner.

- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Clean Driving Record – No recent major violations or accidents.
- DOT Medical Certification – Must pass and maintain a valid DOT medical card.
- Physical Ability – Able to lift up to 50–100 pounds, climb in and out of trucks, and handle extended periods of sitting and driving.
- Attention to Detail – Ensure accuracy in documentation, safety inspections, and cargo security.
- Time Management – Ability to stay on schedule and meet tight delivery deadlines.
- Communication Skills – Effective verbal communication with dispatchers, customers, and other personnel.
- Navigation Skills – Proficient with GPS and trip-planning tools.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3–5 years of experience driving tractor-trailers preferred.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, dust, or airborne particles.
- The noise level in the work environment is typically loud due to vehicle operation and loading/unloading activity.
- Weekend or holiday work may be required based on delivery schedules.
- Drivers must comply with all company safety protocols and equipment care standards.
