Overview
We are seeking a qualified Senior Staff Accountant to provide financial information and reports for the organization by maintaining, analyzing, preparing, and monitoring journal entries, the general ledger, and internal accounts. The ideal candidate is bright, attentive, and efficient with the ability to complete work skillfully in accordance with company policies, procedures, and processes.
Responsibilities- Perform general cost accounting and other related duties
- Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
- Maintain the general ledger
- Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks
- Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts
- Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
- Analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses
- Check and verify invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books
- Implement training for new hires and identify training opportunities for current staff
- Direct the finance work of support staff
- Collaborate with external accounting firm as needed
- Assist external accounting firm and provide required statements and information for the annual review and corporate tax returns
- Ensure that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or financial reporting standards
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal government regulations
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
- 4 or more years of experience required
- Ability to perform tasks in a seated position for extended periods
- Keyboarding for extended periods
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently
