Primary Function:
Ensure reliability of utility operations by creating work packages for repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment modifications. Develop work plans to ensure safe and efficient work execution, incorporating applicable policies, codes and standards and lessons learned from operations. Specific to Field Operations, optimize practices to operate the electric distribution system safely, reliably and efficiently with focus on employees, customers, the public and shareholders.
Coordinate work for craft union personnel and ensure timely, safe and quality completion of work in alignment with strategic initiatives. Position may require extended hours during storms or energy delivery emergencies.
- Direct maintenance departments for corrective, predictive and preventive maintenance, modifications and projects. Determine procedures, materials, labor, and timelines; create tailored work packages and instructions after consulting with company specialists.
- Conduct field walk downs to identify and refine work packages; interface with Work Management, Supply Management, TSO, OCC and Engineering to resolve issues.
- Facilitate package preparation by developing/submitting SR/CRs, contract requisitions, project approvals, line locating and other requests; select or recommend procurement for materials needed for work package completion.
- Develop and verify work instructions and protection zones to ensure compliance with applicable procedures and regulations (e.g., clearance, Ready to Start, Pre-energization, OSHA, lockout/tagout); approve and review work packages for safety, quality and detail.
- Develop, revise and review maintenance procedures to enhance work package development and safety/quality.
- Provide project management of other system planners or contractors to develop detailed elements of package preparation.
- For Field Operations: plan and coordinate work for craft employees executing scheduled and emergent activities to maximize customer service, operations productivity and maintenance crew utilization, achieving safety, reliability and performance goals.
- Schedule and coordinate work within departmental budgets; plan activities to meet business plans and unit objectives.
- Recommend and execute strategies for annual programmatic maintenance and improvements in maintenance completion.
- Ensure work is identified to proper equipment in company software applications; update KPI software to track work completion.
- Provide technical and administrative direction to work crews via creation of work package instructions to ensure safe and complete work processes.
- Interface with management at multiple levels and provide project management over planning initiatives and work practices.
- Select or recommend materials procurement.
- Specific to Field Operations:
Plans and coordinates work activities for Overhead Electrician Specials and/or Area Operators. - Interfaces with supervisors of craft employees to execute maintenance activities; provide input into planning and reliability programs; determine manpower for scheduled and emergent work to maximize crew utilization.
- Actions impact reliability, customer satisfaction, public, political and regulatory perceptions of the company.
- Regular contact with Operations Manager & Supervisors, Dispatching, plan and other teams including community relations, engineering and energy services.
- Bachelor's degree in business or engineering AND 2-4 years' experience in crafting planned work packages or scheduling field orders; or, in lieu of a bachelor's degree, 3-6 years' experience in the relevant craft/discipline.
- For Com Ed T&S Only: must pass a comprehensive T&S Training Program; failure to pass with adequate scores may lead to Loss of Employment Policy HR-AC-20.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
- Good computer skills and ability to adapt to changing conditions.
- Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.
- Two- or four-year technical degree.
- Successful completion of core supervisory/management training and development programs.
- Salary range: $79,200.00/yr – $/yr, varies with skills and experience.
