Within our Retail locations we bring this promise to life with heart every day. Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as chalet example, demonstrating genuine care and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.
Asying a DSP you work within the district to cover pharmacist scheduling gaps under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL) to support our pharmacy teams. While working in stores throughout the district, you are accountable for supporting the management, oversight and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
- Travel across the district to fill pharmacist shifts per the District Performance Coordinator (DPC); oversee the pharmacy and serve as PM’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following—and directing the pharmacy team to follow—pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing the safety guardrails at every workstation
- Assume PM’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care and coaching the pharmacy team to do the same; demonstrate compassionate care, collaborate with the patient’s total health‑care team and proactively resolve insurance and medication issues
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
- Support effective management of pharmacy inventory in all pharmacies worked by following—and guiding the pharmacy team to follow—inventory best practices; focus on protecting cold‑chain products
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive and engaging team dynamic
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills as the industry evolves, including company‑required trainings and CMEs; actively seek opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients
- Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception)
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies and procedures to support patient safety and a safe, inclusive workplace
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
- Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe
