Our client, an established distributor in Stratford, is looking for an experienced Controller to join their team in a permanent position!

As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations of the organization including reporting, managing financial systems, overseeing internal controls, and leading the accounting team. You will work closely with senior management to help guide financial decision-making, strategic planning, and overall financial health of the company.
Required Skills- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance from a University or College program, or equivalent.
- 5+ years experience in a designated accounting capacity
- Report writing capabilities and data structure understanding
- Advanced Excel skills
- CPA designation-preferred
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and in compliance with accounting standards (GAAP).
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, and ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Establish, maintain, and monitor effective internal controls to safeguard the company’s financial assets and ensure compliance.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity needs, ensuring the company meets financial obligations.
- Lead the audit process, liaise with external auditors, and ensure compliance with all financial regulations, laws, and company policies.
- Ensure all government reporting and payments are completed accurately and on time.
- Supervise the daily activities of the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to the executive team to support decision-making.
- Oversee management of accounting software and financial systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures and transactions.
- Maintain the chart of accounts, working papers and all supporting financial information.
- Help with administration associated with insurance and vehicles.
- Maintain and strengthen external relationships
