Role Overview
We're looking for a Manufacturing Simulation Engineer to lead the development of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) models for manufacturing systems.
You'll analyse production flow, identify bottlenecks, optimise throughput, and support major vehicle or system programmes from concept through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Build, develop, and deliver Discrete Event Simulation models that represent full manufacturing process flow from concept to launch.
Analyse production performance, throughput, cycle time, buffer sizes, and system availability.
Identify bottlenecks and provide recommendations to improve system efficiency.
Optimise manufacturing systems using DES "what‑if" scenarios and operational variants.
Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, production, and scheduling teams to ensure system readiness.
Produce clear documentation, dashboards, and reports to support decision‑making.
Mentor junior engineers and support ongoing improvement of simulation tools and techniques.
Key Skills & Experience
Strong hands‑on experience with Discrete Event Simulation tools (e.g., Lanner Witness or Siemens Plant Simulation).
Proven background in modelling production flows and solving complex system performance issues.
Experience delivering DES models to programme KPIs and production targets.
Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
Comfortable working in fast‑paced manufacturing environments.
Who This Role Suits
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys:
Turning complex manufacturing systems into accurate digital simulations
Solving efficiency and throughput challenges
Working closely with engineering and production teams
Leading simulation work streams and driving system improvements
