Charging Systems V&V
Engineer to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon.

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

Role

Summary:

The Charging Systems V&V Engineer will lead validation, testing, diagnostics, and continuous improvement activities across DC‑DC converters, on‑board chargers (AC and DC), EV charging systems, and vehicle high‑voltage (HV) electronics. The role requires hands‑on expertise with test equipment, CAN‑based diagnostics, HV systems, and cross‑functional collaboration to support vehicle programs.

Key responsibilities:
  • Execute validation and verification for charging‑related BMC/HV release features for multiple vehicle platforms.
  • Perform functional, performance, and robustness testing for EV charging systems.
  • Develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on system requirements.
  • Conduct vehicle‑level testing, including EVSE checks, charging simulations, power analysis, and diagnostic tools usage.
  • Capture logs, analyse data, and identify root causes for charging failures or communication issues.
  • Verify SIMS/AMS/BUGS issue fixes on vehicles/HIL/VIL setups.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams (software, hardware, systems, diagnostics) to resolve defects.
  • Ensure compliance with standards (ISO 15118, IEC 61851, DIN 70121, ISO 26262).
  • Prepare detailed test reports and present findings to engineering leadership.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement and validation lifecycle enhancements.
Required skills & experience:
  • Hands‑on experience with EV charging systems, power electronics, or vehicle HV electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of CAN, LIN, PLC communication, Ethernet, and diagnostic tools (Vector CANoe/CANalyzer).
  • Experience with charging protocols (CCS Combo, CHAdeMO, GBT, Type‑2, Type‑1/Type‑5).
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system/vehicle requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with test equipment:
    • Multimeters
    • Power analyzers
    • Charging simulators
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience working in lab and vehicle test environments.
  • Experience with high‑voltage systems (400V / 800V).
  • Knowledge of standards: ISO 15118, IEC 61851, DIN 70121, ISO 26262.
  • Experience with vehicle‑level diagnostics and fault analysis.
  • Understanding of safety procedures & risk assessments.
  • Hands‑on experience with Vector/ETAS tools.
  • HVAC or SPA knowledge (preferable).
  • EV/EVSE Class‑3 driving permit (as required by project).
Tool knowledge required:
  • Vector CAN (Ethernet & PLC logging devices) with license
  • ETAS / Vector tools
Instrumentation / Equipment knowledge required:
  • P7, Debug, BO, HMI, MIO, MQI, MQ2, Elite CAN breakouts
  • Ethernet breakout box
  • Data loggers
