Location: Wellesbourne
The Business Development Manager (Construction, Industrial, Municipal, Wastewater) will lead a high performing team to develop opportunities with new and existing clients both in the UK and internationally with the goal of growing our pipeline and order book. You will ensure the efficient and accurate operation of the Business Development department, overseeing all tender and bid submissions and monitoring budgets to guarantee that every proposal is commercially accurate.
This role is based in the Midlands, with hybrid working options available.
- Develop regional BD plan and annual team objectives by accurately forecasting and budget planning.
- Responsible for securing and maintaining a healthy pipeline of orders.
- Work closely with other BD teams to maximise on international customers/opportunities.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure accurate and smooth handovers.
- Where required check accuracy of third-party invoices against contract terms.
- Monitor outstanding debtors and ensure any commercial problems are addressed.
- Responsible for ensuring accounts/documentation are prepared correctly from BD and processes are followed in a timely manner.
- Maintain team performance by mentoring, formal and informal discussions and appraisals.
- Ensure strict control over Insp Hire data entry to enable accurate forecasts to be generated.
- Responsible for developing and managing direct overhead budgets and personnel.
- Ensure all indirect costs through the business/work scopes are captured in all bid/proposals and through commercial rates.
- Expect a degree of national and international travel.
- Accurately represent the company at trade shows and relevant industry organisations.
- To attend any required training in order to be deemed competent.
- Complete company-set competency record.
- Adhere to OSSO’s QHSE policies and procedures.
- Assist with the upkeep of quality management systems.
- Contribute to OSSO’s observation card system.
Education:
- A minimum of 5 years industry experience working in a BD or a commercial role.
- A degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as Environmental Science, Engineering, or similar is highly desirable.
- Strong commercial acumen, excellent communication and negotiation skills, ability to lead and motivate teams, proactive and detail oriented.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- Good understanding of water management techniques.
- Familiarity with environmental processes or technical product applications is advantageous.
- Proficiency in CRM systems.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in water treatment.
