Mendlesham Medical Group has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced or a newly qualified phlebotomist to join our team on a part‑time basis, for 17.5‑20 hours per week working Monday to Friday at our branch site in Bacton. Main duties of the job- Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols to assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care;
- Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples;
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample;
- Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible;
- Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff;
- Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues;
- Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

Person Specification Experience- Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes
- Consistently confidential, compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues
- Ability to communicate effectively, and to understand the needs of the patient
- Strength in problem‑solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required
- Flexibility and an adaptable approach
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification or experience
- Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture
