English Teacher – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities
These flexible opportunities are ideal for teachers who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different secondary school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Stowmarket and the surrounding areas, delivering engaging English lessons across a range of year groups.
Duties as English Teacher- Deliver engaging and well‑structured English lessons using provided plans
- Teach key curriculum areas including literature, language, reading, writing, and comprehension
- Support learners in developing analytical, communication, and critical‑thinking skills
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in accordance with school policies
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs
- Assess and record pupil progress when required
- Contribute positively to department activities during longer‑term placements
- Promote a supportive and purposeful learning environment
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of English language and literature
- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate learners across different year groups
- Adaptable across varied school environments
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
