• Manage day-to-day operations in weld.
• Ensure team efficiency.
• Understand and enforce safety policies and other company rules.
• Critically think to solve conflicts that may arise.
• Communicate with other plants and/or departments on materials.
• Complete quality checks.
• Inspect road safety components within the cell to ensure all welds are present and correct per the drawing.
• Rework (or coordinate rework with another welder in the cell) any weldments that do not meet requirements.
• Provide feedback to other welders on acceptable weld quality and report issues to the Takt Lead (not responsible for reprimanding other welders).
• Operate tools necessary to the job, including wire feed welder, carbon-arc gouger, plasma cutter, oxy-fuel cutting torches, hand drill, hammer, needle gun, chisel, utility knives, putty scraper, disk sander, rivet gun, impact wrench, huck gun, grinder, clamps, combination square, automated welders, and tape measure.
• Weld in all positions: vertical, flat, horizontal lap, and overhead.
• Set up various parts and assemblies for welding and set machines for carbon and stainless steel of various gauges.
• Place and move blocking, braces, and jigs to hold parts; align parts with wedges, drift pins, turnbuckles, and pry bars.
• Grind or chip rough edges, surplus weld, or scale.
• Position and turn clamps, and bolt together straps or parts.
• Operate overhead cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices.
• Perform measurement and quality checks and record findings.
• Operate robotic weld equipment.
• Perform all assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and productively according to company policy.
• Contribute to the team effort to produce a quality product.
• Attend scheduled work hours regularly and maintain good attendance.
• Ability to work mandatory overtime. Other duties may be assigned by the company.
