Description:

The Stoughton Area School District is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Art Teacher at Fox Prairie Elementary School, effective the school year. The Art Teacher is responsible for providing instruction aligned with the Wisconsin Academic Standards to students in grades K-5. This role includes planning, delivering, and assessing instruction to support student learning, growth, and progress through their elementary education.

Essential Job Functions:

Is knowledgeable in the subjects taught and content‑related pedagogy.

Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the classroom.

Establishes and maintains a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.

Works towards students taking an active role in their own learning.

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum and strategic plan goals.

Revised District curricula is learned and implemented. New instructional materials are used to support the new student learning.

Understands prerequisite relationships among concepts and skills.

Incorporates issues such as global awareness and cultural diversity.

Establishes and maintains a variety of instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.

Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports.

Provides feedback to students to further their understanding and learning.

Communicates to the families of the students regarding the progress of their children.

Assists in the development and implementation of standards for student conduct and discipline.

Takes reasonable precautions to safeguard students' health and safety.

Consults with colleagues, students, and families on a regular basis.

Assists in implementing all policies, procedures, and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Works cooperatively with staff, students, families, and the community.

Complies with the personnel policies of the district (handbook).

Requirements of

Essential Functions:

Occasional (1-33%) bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, walking, squatting, reaching and stair climbing in order to perform essential job functions. Lifting: 0-10 pounds constantly (66-100%).

Job Qualifications:

Possess or qualify for a teacher's license and meet the established qualifications set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Must have excellent communication skills in order to work effectively with students, staff, families, and the community.
