Purchasing Agent

We're looking for a detail-driven Purchasing Agent with hands-on SAP experience to support our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating supplier terms, and working closely with plant management and production teams to ensure uninterrupted, cost-effective supply. The ideal candidate understands the pace and priorities of a manufacturing environment and thrives at the intersection of strategy, collaboration, and execution.

• Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers to support production and operational needs.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, contracts, and delivery schedules to optimize cost and performance.
• Utilize SAP to create and manage purchase orders, track inventory, and maintain accurate procurement data.
• Partner closely with plant management, production, and operations teams to align purchasing with production schedules.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or shortages.
• Support cost‑saving initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within the supply chain.
• Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and industry standards.
• Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
• Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
• Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
• Arrange payment of duty and freight charges.
• Interview vendors and visit suppliers' plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices.
• Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends, or futures markets.
• Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
• Maintain and review computerized or manual records of purchased items, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
• Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
• Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
• Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
• Study sales records and inventory levels of current stock to develop strategic purchasing programs that facilitate employee access to supplies.

• 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP (MM or related modules preferred).
• Proven ability to negotiate contracts and supplier terms.
• Experience working directly with plant management and production teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience with raw materials, components, or production‑related purchasing.
• Understanding of inventory management and production planning.
• Continuous improvement or cost‑reduction experience.
