Planning Officer, Stornoway

37 hours per week, permanent position

£47,079 to £50,956 per annum, inclusive of £2,997 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

Generous expenses relocation package of up to £8000

The post benefits from Key Worker status with additional priority afforded in allocation of social rented housing

Job Description

As the Planning Officer you will provide professional planning services to enable the Council to fulfil statutory planning duties and related services. You will manage a caseload of applications and statutory consultations for developments of local and major/national scale as allocated to you by the Planning Manager.

Qualifications
  • Full Chartered or Associate Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
  • Proven experience of a significant breadth and depth in Development Management work
  • Good knowledge of current planning legislation, guidance and EIA processes
  • Good interpersonal, listening, negotiation, and written communication skills
  • Ability to accept responsibility and work constructively within a small team, whilst also organising and prioritising your own workload
  • A current full UK driving licence
Salary & Benefits

Salary inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.

Generous expenses relocation package up to £8,000. Key Worker status with priority in allocation of social rented housing.
