Learning Support Teacher, EAL, Stornoway Primary School (4046)
21 hours per week, Fixed term
£26,948 - £33,367 per annum, inclusive of £1,798 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

Required on a fixed term basis, for the duration of the current post holders absence, to implement the Council's Inclusion Policy by working with schools and other agencies to support pupils with additional support needs.

You will be required to work collaboratively and in partnership with schools to support pupils with additional support needs, ensure the Council's staged intervention process is implemented, advise on appropriate materials to allow pupils access to a differentiated curriculum and/or elaborated curriculum and regularly assess pupil's educational, social, emotional and behavioural needs and devise and implement methods of effectively meeting those needs.

All practice underpins the duties required under the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004, updated 2009 & Education Scotland Act (2016) as summarised in the guidance document Supporting Children's Learning - Code of Practice.

The successful candidate must have an appropriate degree / diploma in Teaching and GTC Scotland Registration and have teaching experience of pupils with a broad range of additional support needs.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children ( Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot ).
