OverviewElectrician - HSC& EC Research Buildings (FT Day).
Position summary:
At Stony Brook Medicine, our Electricians perform journey level electrician work and frequently supervise others in the repair, maintenance and installation of electrical systems and equipment. The electrician trade requires care and precision to follow applicable electric code regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, troubleshoot, locate faults, and record and interpret electrical readings in various circuits; install electrical circuits according to code; restore and clean up after work; perform repairs to electrical systems following supervisor's directions, blueprints, and work requests; follow safety codes and wear safety equipment; instruct subordinates on safety; work overtime when required.
Required: High School Diploma. Successful completion of a NYS two-year Electrician Traineeship or NYS two-year electrician training program; OR successful completion of any equivalent electrical two-year training or apprenticeship program; OR four years of full-time experience in the electrical trade under a skilled journey-level electrician which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprenticeship training in the electrical trade or training gained by completion of technical courses in the electrical trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Anticipated Pay Range: The salary range is $50,425 per year. The specific offer will be based on validated experience. Some positions include location pay for certain unions; total compensation includes leave, health plans, and a state pension.
