Nursing Assistant/Ward Clerk/EKG - North 3 (Med Surg/Telemetry) Full Time Night

The Nursing Assistant/WC/EKG performs clerical and receptionist duties on assigned unit under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse. The Nursing Assistant/Ward Clerk/EKG Tech works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. He/she performs specific care to assigned patients, administering simple treatments and providing bedside care. The Nursing Assistant observes patients for change of condition and communicates same.

He/she assists in keeping patient and work areas neat, clean and stocked. He/she also promotes cooperation, a positive attitude and creates a safe environment for both patients and staff. The Nursing Assistant is responsible for knowing and adhering to established hospital policies and procedures, including all aspects of safety.

• Assists Registered Nurse with nursing care of assigned patients according to established policies and procedures.
• Take and record temperatures, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure in an accurate manner.
• Documents patient care, vital signs I&O in Hospital Information System.
• Performs EKGs.
• Provides for the general comfort, welfare, and safety of patients.
• Ward clerk duties as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness of patient work area and patient care unit equipment.
• Responds to patient call lights promptly and provides necessary assistance.
• Other duties as deemed appropriate by Management.

• High‑School Graduate.
• Nurse Aide certificate or equivalent.
• Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Training course in acute care skills.
• Standing/Walking 95% of the day.
• Ability to lift and transport patients.
• Visual and auditory acuity.

• Previous EKG and Ward Clerk experience.

• Successfully complete pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Employee Health Services.
• Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
• Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen.
• Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings.
• Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

$25.15 – $27.03 per hour.

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, North 3 (Med Surg/Telemetry) – Night shift 7 p‑8 a
