Job Title

Nursing Station Clerk – NSC Trainee 15S Med/Tele – Full Time Evening

Position Summary

Assigned to inpatient or outpatient units, the Nursing Station Clerk greets visitors, directs them to appropriate locations, answers telephones, performs data entry, maintains daily clinical logs, prepares and updates patient charts, fills medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions, mails patient letters, and delivers supplies and records to the assigned unit.

Responsibilities
  • Orient patients and families to the unit and serve as a contact person.
  • Provide information on patient condition and direct visitors to appropriate locations.
  • Process physicians’ orders by recording written orders in charts and flag sheets and by filling medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions.
  • Receive new admissions and maintain patient charts and daily logs.
  • Prepare and maintain patient charts, daily log and clinic log.
Qualifications
  • One year of full‑time clerical or patient care experience in a health care setting.
  • Reachability on the Civil Service eligible list for Nursing Station Clerk 1 (eligible list appointment).
  • For provisional appointment, candidates must take the examination when next offered and be reachable on the resulting eligible list.
  • Physical examination and medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine Employee Health Services.
  • Three professional references and a 4‑panel drug screen.
  • Required New York State licenses/certificates as applicable.
Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Pre‑employment physical examination and medical clearance.
  • Electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
  • 4‑panel drug screen.
  • Regulatory pre‑employment screenings completed.
  • Copy of any required New York State license(s) / certificate(s).

Salary

Salary Grade: SG7. Anticipated pay range: $—$/year. Additional annual supplemental pay may include location pay, shift differential, and geographic pay.
