Nursing Station Clerks 1 are assigned to either inpatient or outpatient units where there is daily contact with patients. The team member greets visitors and directs them to appropriate locations; answers telephones; performs data entry activities; maintains daily and clinical logs; prepares, updates, and maintains patient charts and files; fills out medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions; mails patient letters; and delivers supplies and records to an assigned unit.
Duties- Orient patients and families to the unit, providing information regarding the room, unit, and hospital, and serve as a contact person to patients and families.
- Provide information on patient condition within existing policies and direct visitors to the appropriate locations.
- Process physicians' orders by recording written orders in charts, kardex, flag sheets, or directly into a computer file after review by a Registered Nurse; and by filling out medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions.
- Receive new admissions.
- Prepare and maintain patient charts, daily logs, and clinic logs.
- Eligible List Appointment:
Must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Nursing Station Clerk 1. - Provisional Appointment:
Temporary provisional appointment may be considered when there are insufficient eligible candidates. Requires one year of full‑time clerical, secretarial, or patient care experience in a healthcare setting. Must complete the examination when it is offered. - 55(b)/c Appointment:
Must possess the minimum qualifications and a current 55(b)/c eligibility letter. - Transfer:
One year of permanent competitive service in an approved title that can transfer to Nursing Station Clerk 1.
The salary range for this position is $xxx – $xxx per year. Annual supplemental pay may include:
- Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($4000)
- Night shift differential ($000)
- Evening shift differential ($000)
- Inconvenience pay / supplemental shift differential ($575)
- Geographic pay ($000)
