At Stony Brook Medicine the Patient Care Coordinator receives patients in the Radiology Department for exams and performs all duties associated with the throughput of the patients, including scheduling appointments for exams. Duties also include maintaining images on Life Image.

• Receive patients in the Radiology Department for exams and perform all duties associated with the throughput of patients, including scheduling exams in RIS.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the throughput of out‑patients for exams.
• Upload CD exams from outside organizations to Life Imaging/PACS system and duplicate exams as needed on CDs for patients, physicians, and other customers.
• Interact with patients, visitors, staff, physicians, members of regulatory agencies and community.
• Answer the department’s telephone in a timely and courteous manner, verifying all patient information and reporting discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Perform all tasks as assigned, including but not limited to organization of all exams and related paperwork, printing schedules, printing reports, maintaining exam integrity in the RIS system.
• Act as liaison for the Radiology Department and other hospital departments and services. Represent the department positively at meetings and events.
• Maintain equipment such as printer and fax machines, reporting malfunctions immediately.

• Associate’s Degree and one year of experience in a medical healthcare setting and/or customer service experience.
• Or, in lieu of a degree, at least three years of experience in a medical healthcare setting and/or customer service.
• Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to multi‑task and pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to work as an efficient team member and have superior written and expressive communication skills.

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Radiology Experience
• Knowledge of hospital computer systems such as Life Image
• Knowledge of insurance & managed care requirements

The salary range for this position is $45,372 - $50,541 Base. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience.
