Position Description- Performs diagnostic Ultrasound examinations for patients of all age groups. Under the direction of the Radiologist in charge of ultrasound, performs a variety of ultrasound examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Uses independent judgement and initiative to apply prescribed scanning protocols for purposes of medical diagnosis.
Duties of a TH CTS Cardiology Associate may include the following but are not limited to:
- Performance of a variety of echo cardiographic procedures on adult inpatients and outpatients.
- Using standard 2D, color flow, Doppler, and M-Mode techniques and views as indicated and needed.
- The Technologist's primary are of responsibility will be in all aspects of echocardiography. Facility with 2D, color, and Doppler echocardiography is required.
- Enter patient data/measurements into reporting system.
- Enter charges for exams performed.
- Acts as a clinical resource and preceptor for new staff and students.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited program in Ultrasonography.
- NYS DOH approved two-year program.
- Certification in Ultrasound Technology and prior proven experience are required.
- Preferred: one year experience in Cardiac Ultrasound. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or registry eligible.
- Required: A graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound school program. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or registry eligible.
Physical Demands
- Heavy lifting and bending of at least 100 pounds.
- Long periods of standing.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to see and read well.
- Able to hear and listen to instructions.
- Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms and/or mechanical substitutes to operate a stretcher, and move patients and other company equipment.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBEILH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Your total compensation goes beyond the number in your paycheck!
Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Eastern Long Island's Employee Health Services *
- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
* The Human Resources department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
