Medical Assistant - In Patient STICR weekends only Part-Time Nights
Responsibilities- Perform clinical, laboratory, and clerical support activities in the Hospital, assisting physicians or other medical personnel in patient care, preparing patients for procedures and examinations, recording vital data, and performing routine laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy, specimen collection, and specimen processing.
- Greet and direct patients, produce reports, answer telephones, and gather and enter data; ensure cleanliness of patient rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Prepare patients for exams or laboratory tests, assist during examinations, chaperone patients, and distribute patient information packets related to illnesses or procedures.
- Assist patients who have difficulty ambulating; escort and transport to other areas; check lab orders and process patient orders; perform specimen collection per order.
- Pre-clean, prepare, and high-level disinfect instruments; dispose of contaminated supplies; assist physicians with procedures; obtain blood specimens and 12-lead EKG; document and notify RN regarding glucose results and perform glucometer quality control checks.
- Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, Universal precautions, and proper patient identification; summon assistance in emergencies and obtain needed equipment.
- Provide support to maintain patient flow, answer phones, route calls, take messages, and refer issues to appropriate parties.
On or before the date of filing your application, you must have:
- Either 1: one year of full-time experience performing clinical and clerical support activities in a health care setting; or
- 2: completion of a college, university, technical school or vocational school medical assistant program.
- Experience with EMR.
- BLS or Heart Saver certification.
- Current certification for Medical Assistant.
- Must be physically capable of safely executing duties; standing/walking, lifting, pushing and/or transferring of patients; lifting supplies/equipment; reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.

This position will remain posted until filled or for a maximum of 90 days. An initial review of all applicants will occur two weeks from the posting date. For full consideration, applications must be received before the initial review date.

- Complete pre-employment physical examination and medical clearance.
- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
- Complete a 4-panel drug screen.
- Meet regulatory requirements for pre-employment screenings.
- Provide copies of required New York State licenses/certificates.

Anticipated Pay RangeThe salary range is $40,391 per year. The pay range is a good faith estimate at posting; the final offer depends on experience. Other compensation may include location pay, shift differential, and geographic pay. Your total compensation includes benefits such as leave, health plans, and a state pension.
