SUNY PRODIG Plus Fellow in Chemistry

DescriptionThe Department of Chemistry at Stony Brook University seeks a SUNY PRODiG+ Fellow at the Lecturer level to begin in Fall 2026. The fellowship aims to increase faculty diversity and strengthen the pipeline for retention of diverse scholars. Candidates from experimental and theoretical chemistry sub‑disciplines are encouraged to apply. The selected faculty member will establish a vibrant, extramurally funded research program that complements existing chemistry faculty and contributes to the university’s strategic priorities in artificial intelligence, global health, quantum information science, and climate science.
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field, a record of innovative research, and strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching are required. The fellowship is 12‑month for two years, with the goal of conversion to a tenure‑track assistant professorship.
Required Qualifications: Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship. Hold a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution, completed prior to the start date. Demonstrate personal, academic, or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion, or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing DEI efforts in the campus community.
Preferred Qualifications: Possess relevant postdoctoral and/or industrial experience. Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows. From a low‑income background or first‑generation college student, have overcome adversity, or are Ameri Corps alumni or veterans. Demonstrated quality and fundability of proposed research, originality of ideas, and potential impact on the university’s research and educational missions. Alignment with institutional strategic priorities and potential for collaboration with other faculty are also valued.
